Our happiness only multiplied when Stylist Magazine ran a feature on Hari’s luxurious hemp hair and scalp therapy.
Sadly, for most of our loyal customers, London is a bit far to go when their scalps are in need of some TLC, so we thought it was about time we developed our very own Spirit of Hemp Hair and Scalp range. It’s with great pleasure that we announce the launch of our innovative CBD Hair/Scalp Treatment Oil and our Hair Elixir, made with all the love and care you associate with Spirit of Hemp.
Itchy Scalp? Try CBD Hair Treatment Oil
I’ve had an itchy irritable scalp for years. In fact, my head has itched for longer than it hasn’t. It’s at best irritating, and at worst unsightly, as the itch turns to red patches around my scalp and behind my ears.
In my case, it’s most probably down to seborrheic dermatitis, which is linked to an overgrowth of yeast on the skin brought on by fluctuating hormonal levels, stress or seasonal changes. However, an itchy scalp can also accompany dandruff, often caused by too much oil production or not enough, sensitivity to hair products, or skin conditions such as psoriasis or eczema.
Either way, spending your life scratching your head is a drag, so most of us turn to specialist shampoos containing ingredients like zinc pyrithione, salicylic acid or ketoconazole. It’s good to give the scalp a break from these sometimes harsh treatments, and thankfully nature can provide us with a much gentler form of relief.
That’s why Spirit of Hemp has developed the ultimate scalp balancer featuring CBD +CBDA extracted from organic hemp. Why CBD? Known as a powerful antioxidant and anti-inflammatory agent, CBD has also been found to regulate sebum production. We’ve also added copiaba essential oil to target endocannabinoid CB2 receptors in our skin and further reduce inflammation.
In fact, we’ve created a fantastically aromatic and therapeutic blend of essential oils like cedarwood, rosemary and lavender to bring both a zing and calmness to your scalp at the same time. And for some luxurious scalp and hair conditioning, we’ve called on MCT coconut, moringa, and tamanu oils.
Instructions for use
Spirit of Hemp CBD Hair/Scalp Treatment Oil should be applied directly to the scalp about twenty minutes BEFORE washing your hair. Massage the oil into the scalp and enjoy the heady mix of aromas and tingling sensations. Then work the oil through your hair until the ends. Using your usual shampoo to remove the oil, you may need to wash a couple of times. Conditioner is optional, although personally, I just added a little to the ends of my hair. For a deep treatment, leave the scalp oil overnight.
Does it work?
I must admit I didn’t have huge expectations the first time I used the CBD hair and scalp treatment oil. How can rubbing some CBD oil with a few aromatic bits and bobs rectify an itchy scalp that’s been irritating me my whole adult life?
My experience though has been utterly transformative. Personally, I don’t tend to use the oil before shampooing, instead, I massage it into my scalp whenever there’s a hint of an itch or redness, leaving it over night, or sometimes for a few days at a time.
Not only does the itch disappear, but so does the redness and the oil also keeps any flakiness at bay allowing me to wash my hair every four days rather than every other day (I am inherently lazy when it comes to hair washing).
So for me at least Spirit of Hemp’s CBD hair and scalp oil = a happy, itch and flake-free scalp.
Now we’ve got itchy scalps sorted, Spirit of Hemp decided to dedicate its signature love and care to creating a hemp product to make your hair smell like heaven and shine like the sun.
A heady mix of sweet smelling essential oils like neroli, ylang ylang, white grapefruit, and rose geranium to lift your spirits and tantalise the senses have been combined with golden jojoba and moringa oils for luxurious hair conditioning.
Oh and don’t expect yet another ‘let’s add CBD to everything’ bandwagon here. You won’t find CBD in the Spirit of Hemp Hair Elixir as there would be no therapeutic reason to do so. But fear not, hemp still plays its part with the addition of cannabis sativa essential oil.
Instructions for use
Warm 1-3 drops of Hair Elixir Oil in your palms and then work through ends after styling to give shine and luster to your hair. Got a head of wild frizz? Our elixir doesn’t play favourites, it loves to bring calm to curly hair too.
With these new additions to the Spirit of Hemp range, our hair and scalp have never had it so good. We’d love to hear your feedback about our hair and body range. Drop us a line through our contact page or join our Spirit of Hemp Facebook Community to share tips and experiences.

Mary Biles is an ex-TV producer, writer and educator with a background in holistic health. In the past, she’s written for the Huffington Post, CNN, and the BBC. While living in Southern Spain, her path crossed with the medicinal properties of the cannabis plant, and for the last three years she’s been writing about cannabinoids, in particular CBD, European medical cannabis research, and the endocannabinoid system. Now based in the UK, Mary is passionate about putting medical cannabis science into digestible terms; where possible going straight to source and interviewing the scientists behind the breakthroughs. Her website is here.
My journey started with the terminal diagnosis of pancreatic cancer of a dear friend’s mother. In the last couple of month’s of her life she’d been given cannabis oil, which did something that morphine could not. It allowed her to see out her final weeks with almost no pain and with complete lucidity. In short, she was given the chance to die with dignity.
As a writer, I knew the power of words. So I swore to my friend that I would do something about the utter injustice that means millions of people around the world are denied access to the healing potential of the cannabis plant.
Since then my life has been dedicated to educating the world about cannabis, CBD and the endocannabinoid system through original, well-researched, concisely written, and easily digestible articles. For the last two years, I’ve been a regular contributing writer for one of the most respected sources of cannabis education, Project CBD.
Summer (2020), my position as one of the most respected Europe-based medical cannabis writers was cemented by the publication of my book, ‘The CBD Book: The Essential Guide to CBD Oil‘ (Harper Collins), from which I got the inspiration to start my podcast ‘Cannabis Voices.’
I am also Chief Editor at CPASS (Cannabis Patient Advocacy and Support Services). As part of its nurse’s arm, CPASS provides education and training to nurses about how best they can support their patients who are using medical cannabis. Watch out for our MDT series which I will moderate, focussing on the application of cannabis medicines in chronic pain, mental health, palliative care and oncology, neurological disorders and women’s health.
