This Fresh Garden Herb CBD Pesto marks the first recipe collaboration between Spirit of Hemp and Vegan Wise. Each week Nikita from Vegan Wise will be joining us with a new, delicious, CBD recipe and we couldn’t be more excited.
“One of the most common questions we have is: how can I get more CBD oil into my day without taking it under the tongue? Well, we normally answer with… eat it! Whilst mixing CBD with food won’t have as fast an effect as taking CBD under the tongue (it can take up to 2 hours to feels the effect as opposed to 20 minutes and you may need slightly more to have the same effect) it will have a big positive in that it will stay in your system longer.
So here begins our healthy recipe series to inspire delicious possibilities of Spirit of Hemp in your life! “In this series I will be using the Original 3% cbd + cbda + terpenes oil. I eat this pesto as a sauce or topping for pasta, pizza, baked potatoes or even on toast!” – Nikita, Vegan Wise
- Start off by lightly toasting your fennel and cumin seeds in 1 TBSP olive oil. This should take no more than 5 minutes on a medium heat.
- Then add in your diced red onion and simmer until soft.
- Once soft add in balsamic vinegar and agave to caramelise your onion and seeds.
- Now add all remaining ingredients, except your CBD dose, into a blender or food processor and blend until smooth, make sure to add in your caramelised mix as well.
- Once blended carefully add in the CBD dose and give the pesto one final quick mix by hand.

- 4 tbsp Olive Oil
- 1 tsp Fennel Seed
- 1 tsp Cumin Seed
- Half a medium Red Onion
- 1 TBSP Balsamic Vinegar
- 1 tsp Agave Syrup
- 1 TBSP chopped Basil
- 1 TBSP chopped Dill
- Large Bunch, 400g Fresh Parsley
- 2 TBSP Sunflower Seeds
- 1 TBSP Nutritional Yeast
- Half a Lemon, peeled
- Salt and Pepper to taste
- 10 drops Spirit of Hemp original CBD oil
- 100 ml of water
SERVING GUIDE: Serves 5, Portion size – 1 TBSP per person= 2 drops of CBD oil
